Well, Ward has retired from the record auction business and is currently (late 2010) in Europe where he educates politicians about the history and uses of atomic warfare.

AllJazz was founded in 1988 by George Wilson (he's my Dad.) He'd been collecting jazz records seriously for about fifteen years before that. As the size of his collection grew (and the comments from my mother increased about "not being able to get anything in the basement anymore") he decided that one way to take care of all the records that he had would be to auction some of them off. This was long before the internet, so he sat down at his computer, typed up a list, mailed it out to a few guys and the rest is history.

Dad eventually sold the business to April Augusta (whom many of you know) who had been entering the records for Dad for about 9 years. April ran AllJazz for many years until her husband talked her into working with him in the real estate business. When Dad heard April was selling the business he said to me, "Gee, Ward. Don't you think it would be fun to own a record auction?"

This is the two of us at the Institute of Jazz Research annual Christmas party.
